DC Comics to kill off Batman?

Interesting, to say the least. First Cap and now this...?

Um, did brad invent a time machine and take us back to the mid-90's? 'Cause this is just the kind of story telling crap that existed back then. Seriously, why must we kill, or would have people think that we did, characters to increase sales revenues? And this is FUCKING Batman we're talking about here! Arguably one of two of the most recognizable symbols in the world is the Batman logo (Supes "S" shield being number 1). Did Frank Miller kill Batman in 1985? No, and sales went through the roof. Indeed, the first Batman film prolly owes "The Dark Knight Returns" a big favor for generating renewed interest in the franchise, allowing it to be greenlighted.

But killing the title character, arguably your franchise's MVP, to generate sales is weak. No, it's a sign that you're praying at the altar of the all mighty dollar a bit too much. If DC wanted to do something really radical to turn heads and cause fanboys to buy their books in droves, they would write a story where Superman flew around the earth really fast in a counterclock wise direction and reversed time to undue the even bigger storytelling monstrosity of "One More Day".

If I could get off my ass and put together a 'zine, I'd relate how this "event" has impacted my work for DC...

In any event, They're not talking about killing Batman, they're talking about killing Bruce Wayne.
